Festival selections 2020

This year (and every year), despite the exceptional period we are experiencing (COVID19), many end-of-year films, documentaries and professional dossiers by CInéCréatis students have been selected by festivals around the world.

Let’s take a look at them…

Greece, Spain, Italy, France: once again this year, the reputation of CinéCréatis short films is spreading beyond our borders!

A new selection for Moustaco at the Athens International Children’s Film Festival!
The 3rd Athens International Children’s Film Festival returns to the Megaron Athens Concert Hall and Danaos Cinema from 18 to 22 November 2020.

The Athens International Children’s Film Festival aims to support and promote the production of creative films for children, teenagers and their families around the world.

The festival promises to entertain and move young audiences, offering a rich, interesting and entertaining screening programme.
It takes place every year over 3 days, during which families are invited to explore the world without having to leave Athens.

The winning films will be selected by children and their families in a daily vote:

  • Audience award for best short film
  • Audience award for best feature film
  • Prize for the best film in the school programme

Animakom Festival

Animakom Festival

Superbot has been selected for the Animakom Festival, which was due to take place in Bilbao from 28 March to 5 April 2020. The new dates will be announced shortly. Update on 30/06: the film will be shown on Tuesday 7 July at 7pm.

Animakom is an international animation festival with live screenings and prizes. This will be the third edition. A single international jury proposed by Animakom’s artistic director will be appointed to judge the two contests.

The prizes initially planned for the two competitions will be as follows.

For the official competition

Festival Ojo Pescado

The film Moustaco has been selected to compete in the “professional short film” category at the 9th edition of the Ojo de Pescado IFF children’s festival in Chile, with online screenings from 29 August to 6 September.

The Ojo de Pescado Cultural Corporation is a non-profit association under private law whose main objective is to organise the annual Ojo de Pescado international festival for children and young people.

Audiovisual creation workshops in educational establishments throughout Chile, and training activities for students, educators and professionals in the film, arts, humanities and social sciences. Ojo de Pescado is a platform for exploration and action which, through the screening of films and the promotion of audiovisual creation, aims to help guarantee the right of children and young people to an integral education, to communication and to the expression of their opinions.

In short, the annual Ojo de Pescado international festival is an opportunity to :

  • to show cinematographic works specially selected for children and young people according to their age and context ;
  • to encourage the making of short films for children and young people.
  • to develop activities and materials for mediation. to offer film workshops to children, young people and education professionals throughout Chile.

The short film Moustaco has been selected as part of the official selection of the “Palma de Cera del Quindío 2020 – International Mountain Film Festival” in the international fiction category.

The festival will take place from 7 to 13 September 2020, both in person (in accordance with local health regulations) and virtually via a recognised online platform.

The aim of the “International Mountain Film Festival” is to strengthen audiovisual culture in the department of Quindio and the rest of Colombia, focusing on geographical space and nature, with an emphasis on biodiversity and the conservation of flora and fauna.

With the same dedication with which the foundation has worked throughout these 6 years of festival, it strives every day to reinvent the possibilities through this festival and through cinema to reach every corner of the Colombian mountains.

The foundation continues to grow so that culture, cinema and landscapes inspire us to keep dreaming.

BCT – National Film and Television Festival

Here, 2 short films have been selected: Superbot and Moustaco have been selected for the next edition of the BCT – Festival National du Film et de la Télévision – Ville de Bénévent, live from 28 July to 2 August (dates to be confirmed).

The National Film and Television Festival is the first and only event in Italy to bring together the world of cinema and television in a single event, with film premieres, TV series previews, meetings, screenings, competitions, master classes, shows, concerts, interviews and debates open to the public and viewers.

A unique event in Italy, able to combine different forms of communication through the protagonists of Italian and international cinema and television. Since 2018, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities – Cinema Department has recognised the enormous value of the Festival, both in terms of media and communication and from an organisational point of view, to the point of being recognised among the top ten Film Festivals in Italy.

From 2017 to 2019, the Festival recorded the presence, in terms of spectators, of more than 300 thousand people in 3 years.

Also in Italy, the short films Superbot and Moustaco have been selected to be screened at the Giffoni Film Festival from 16 to 25 July 2020 (dates to be confirmed).

Giffoni Experience is a multi-faceted creative and organisational structure that includes the Festival, the dozens of activities that take place throughout the year and new innovation projects.

As a result, Giffoni Experience is not just a film festival, but also a unique cultural and entertainment enterprise, unlike any other cultural event in Italy or abroad. Its diversity stems from the idea of evolution and the need for continuous innovation.

The documentary “Un Brin d’existence” directed by Klara Johansson (a student at Cinécréatis Nantes) has been selected by Upgreen TV, which is organising Green Documentary Day, which took place on 20 June(read our article on this subject).
