A city where you can study cinema

Studying cinema in Bordeaux

A city of artists

Bordeaux hosts a number of film festivals that showcase the full diversity of the 7th art, including the Cinémarges Festival and the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival (FIFIB). These are great opportunities for our students to discover independent and experimental works, gain a better understanding of the realities of the film industry, meet professionals and showcase their own work.

The city also vibrates to the rhythm of many forms of artistic creation. Art lovers in particular can stroll through the emblematic districts of Saint-Michel, Saint-Pierre and Les Chartrons, which are brimming with galleries, artists’ studios and spaces dedicated to creativity.

A dynamic professional ecosystem

Bordeaux is home to many production companies, including Moonflake, Grenouilles Productions, Mara Films, Libellule Productions, Bien ou Bien Production and La Couveuse à Films. This rich professional fabric reflects the diversity of the audiovisual professions, from assistant director to scriptwriter, from cinematographer to artistic coordinator to technical consultant.

This environment is a real opportunity for our students at the audiovisual school in Bordeaux. They have access to practical work placements, can develop their skills on the job and build up a solid professional network, which is essential for their future careers.

A pleasant city to live in

Living in Bordeaux

Bordeaux: A recognised quality of student life

Regularly listed as one of the best student cities in France by L’Étudiant, Bordeaux is known for its easy-going, dynamic lifestyle. Students can enjoy a lively local scene, particularly around Place de la Victoire, with its many bars, cafés and restaurants, or in the Chartrons district, popular for its bohemian atmosphere and vintage shops.

In terms of activities, the city offers a wide choice of sporting activities. Students can join clubs such as the Bordeaux Étudiants Club (BEC), which offers a wide range of disciplines, both collective and individual. Outdoor enthusiasts can also take advantage of the Bordeaux lake to try their hand at sailing, canoeing or paddle boarding.

Accessible and practical transport

Bordeaux enjoys excellent accessibility, thanks in particular to Bordeaux-Mérignac international airport. The city is ideally located, just 2 hours from Paris by TGV and around 2 hours 20 minutes from Toulouse, making it easy to get around regularly.

Getting around the city on a day-to-day basis is simple and efficient. Students often prefer to cycle, with solutions offered by Bordeaux Métropole, as well as using public transport (bus and tram), which they can access with appropriate season tickets. Bordeaux-Saint-Jean station is just a 10-minute walk from the campus, which is itself close to the Voltaire and Mékong bus stops, as well as the Carle Vernet tramway station.
