From 16 to 24 October 2026, Montpellier will host the 48th edition of CINEMED, the International Mediterranean Film Festival. For this year’s festival, we are delighted to renew our partnership with the organisers and to offer sixth-formers and students considering a change of course an immersive experience at the heart of filmmaking.
Through these work placements, we aim to give them a hands-on insight into careers in the film industry, moving from theory to practice and experiencing the various stages of film production.
CINEMED: a festival dedicated to Mediterranean cinema
Since its inception, CINEMED has established itself as an unmissable event for discovering the richness and diversity of Mediterranean cinema. Every year, the festival brings together directors, actors, industry professionals, young talent and film enthusiasts in Montpellier for a programme packed with films, discussions, retrospectives, previews and industry events.
For us, CINEMED represents much more than just a film festival. It is also a place for meeting people, sharing knowledge and making discoveries, offering a different perspective on the art of film and on those who bring it to life.
A 48th edition full of discoveries
The 48th edition of CINEMED will take place from 16 to 24 October 2026 in Montpellier. Once again this year, the festival will present a programme celebrating leading filmmakers and new voices in Mediterranean cinema.
Spanish filmmaker Pablo Berger will be a particular highlight, whilst the 2026 Mediterranean Season will focus on Arab fantasy. Previews, retrospectives, meetings and key events will punctuate this week dedicated to cinema and Mediterranean cultures.
It is within this particularly stimulating environment that we have chosen to run our workshops, to enable young people to discover cinema in a different way: not only as viewers, but also as creators.
Cinécréatis x CINEMED: discovering cinema through hands-on experience
This year, we are renewing our partnership with CINEMED to offer introductory workshops to careers in film and the audiovisual sector. Aimed at sixth-formers and students looking to change course, these workshops take place directly at the Corum in Montpellier, at the heart of the festival.
Over two days, participants are immersed in the environment of a real-life audiovisual project. They learn about the various stages involved in producing a scene and gain hands-on experience in a range of technical roles: camerawork, sound recording, lighting, stage machinery, editing, sound mixing and visual effects.
From preparation to filming
The first day is devoted to filming. Supported by professionals and our second-year students, participants learn about the demands of a film set and get to handle professional equipment themselves.
Cameras, lighting, stage machinery, sets, costumes and even a green screen are made available to them, enabling them to gain a practical understanding of how a film shoot works.
This hands-on approach is essential for us: it allows everyone to try things out, experiment and, above all, experience the reality of careers in the visual media industry.
From filming to post-production
On the second day, we move to the other side of the camera to explore post-production. Participants work on the footage shot the previous day and discover the various stages involved in creating a final sequence: editing picture and sound, sound mixing and visual effects.
This experience gives them a better understanding of how these professions complement one another and the importance of teamwork in film-making.
A partnership based on sharing knowledge
Through this partnership, our primary aim is to pass on our passion for cinema and introduce participants to the various professions within the industry through hands-on experience.
For the participants, these work placements offer a first taste of the professional world and can help them confirm their career aspirations. For our students, it is also an enriching experience that allows them to share their knowledge and passion with a new generation.
See you at Cinemed
From 19 to 23 October 2026, we look forward to welcoming future film enthusiasts to the Corum in Montpellier to enjoy this experience at the heart of CINEMED.

With CINEMED, we are proud to offer a different way of experiencing cinema: moving from the screen to behind the scenes, and above all from the idea to the finished product.
