Cinécréatis, a venue for the festival.
From 6 to 24 May, the Cité Créative in Montpellier, where Cinécréatis is located, will be pulsating to the rhythm of the Hyperactive – Le festival de la Cité Créative festival. This ambitious, multi-disciplinary event showcases the cultural and creative industries through a rich programme of exhibitions, music, dance, screenings, workshops, professional meetings and immersive experiences.
Cinécréatis is one of a number of players involved in this dynamic initiative, working alongside Montpellier’s Écoles Créatives to play an active part in this event, which is helping to shape the region’s future. Supported by the City of Montpellier, the Metropole and Altémed, the festival is part of a strong commitment to making the Cité Créative an emblematic centre for the cultural industries in France.
A lively programme open to all
Every evening, the district comes alive with concerts, artistic performances, screenings and participatory workshops. Cinécréatis plays a full part in this lively atmosphere by offering events on its roof and in its spaces, encouraging encounters between the public, students and professionals.
The festival kicks off on Wednesday 6 May with an inauguration under the banner of energy and movement. On the programme: an Afrovibe class led by Maryam Kaba, a renowned dancer and choreographer, combining Afro dance and muscle strengthening for an experience that’s both sporty and festive.
On Sundays 10, 17 and 24 May, the Cinécréatis rooftop will also be the venue for yoga and pilates sessions run by Athletic Fitness Club, offering moments of outdoor well-being.
A highlight dedicated to the creative professions
On Tuesday 19 May, Cinécréatis is organising an event dedicated to discovering careers in the cultural and creative industries. Designed with schoolchildren in mind, this event gives high school and university students the chance to talk to professionals from the film, video game, 3D and concept art industries. It’s a hands-on immersion in the realities of the sector, essential for informing career choices.
Dance, music and sharing
On Friday 22 May, it’s all about urban culture, with a workshop combining popping and waacking led by Lilokey and Panda Laley, followed by a DJ set by Marina Rabita. It’s an evening of groove, sharing and creativity.
A collective dynamic in the service of creation
Through its participation in Hyperactive, Cinécréatis is asserting its role within Montpellier’s creative ecosystem. The event is a perfect illustration of the synergy between educational establishments, artists, institutions and the general public, helping to make the Cité Créative a place of innovation, transmission and experimentation.
Hyperactive is more than just a festival: it’s a living showcase for Montpellier’s cultural potential and a breeding ground for the talent of today and tomorrow.
