Delphine Seignon
A dual career
Director and actress
Her career
Passionate about acting and directing, Delphine is not one to choose between her two passions.
On leaving school, she joined France 2 as a casting assistant on Nagui’s programme “Tout le monde veut prendre sa place”, to get her first taste of the audiovisual world. But it was behind the scenes that her real career began: alongside this first experience, she directed her first self-produced short film, ” Blanche comme neige“.
Her years at CinéCréatis
“When I was studying at CinéCréatis, directing came naturally to me. It’s a world I’m particularly fond of, but as a young woman it’s not easy every day! You have to never give up, always believe in yourself and, above all, work with people you can trust.
Her projects
With a view to pursuing her dream of appearing on stage, she enrolled on an acting course at the same time, and soon landed her first roles: Joan of Arc in a performance of Jean Anouilh’s “L’alouette”, Lady MacBeth and Beauty in “La Belle et la Bête”.
She went on to appear in several feature films, including Jalil Lespert’s “Iris”, Yvan Attal’s “Le Brio” and more recently David Perrault’s “L’état Sauvage”.
The entrepreneurial challenge
So, pursuing her two passions together, she made her second short film, “Nereïda 4”, followed by “Jag”. This was followed by a new short film denouncing moral violence in schools, “Je suis en danger”, supported by the “Respect Zone” association.
She returned to the stage in Léonore Confino’s “Building” for the Avignon Festival and at the Darius Milhaud theatre in Paris, before moving on to “In Nomine Patris”, a short film which she also directed and acted in.
Keen on challenges, in 2020 she embarked on a new adventure by launching the production company “INP Prod” with two friends. “We’re in the process of approaching well-known VOD platforms. I’m also working on several other projects, including a feature film.” To be continued!
Any advice for our students?
“Yes, my advice to future directors: hang in there! As my grandmother would say, you’ll see a lot! Stay true to yourself and don’t give in to injustice or condescension. The rest will follow!
Delphine also adds:
” See films, enrich their experiences, never give up and always believe! Especially for women who are starting out as directors. As my grandmother would say, they’ll get a lot out of it!
I think you always have to be true to yourself and not accept injustice or the condescension that some people may feel. Just because you’re a young woman doesn’t mean you don’t have convictions or talent! You need to surround yourself well and work with people you can trust, while making a distinction between a friend and a work colleague.
