A cross between gothic horror, intimate fantasy and experimental music video, Le Papillon de Soi is a rare work: a silent scream, a plunge into the grey areas of the psyche, but also a message of resistance. Mary suffers, falls, oscillates between life and death, but eventually gets up, reinvents herself and regains control.
That’s what this film is about: the possibility of being reborn, even in total darkness.
