A graduate of the 2022 cohort at Cinécréatis Nantes, Inès Rouiched is continuing her career as a director with an ambitious new short film project: *L’Homme de ma Vie*. Shot in Rennes in September 2026, the film will bring together a team of young professionals, notably from Cinécréatis and other schools in Rennes. This collaborative venture is a testament to the dynamism of the new generation of audiovisual talent in Brittany.
During her time at Cinécréatis Nantes, Inès Rouiched gained extensive filming experience and took part in several projects within the school, including *Mabka*. This was her first hands-on immersion in audiovisual production, enabling her to develop her artistic vision whilst also coming to terms with the various realities of a film shoot.
After graduating, Inès took the next step by directing, in 2025, *Belle Has Fallen*, her first short film produced outside the school. The project received support from the City of Rennes’ FRIJ grant and was subsequently screened at several festivals and events in Rennes. This was a particularly enriching first experience for the young director, inspiring her to continue and take things further.
Inès now hopes to take on a new challenge with *L’Homme de ma Vie*. Scheduled for 17–20 September 2026 in Rennes, this short film is her most ambitious project to date. Once again supported by the City of Rennes’ FRIJ grant and backed by Le 4bis, the film is currently in the pre-production phase: the technical storyboard is being drawn up, funding is being sought and the shoot is being organised.
A satire on modern dating
In *L’Homme de ma Vie*, Inès Rouiched crafts a quirky satire on the world of dating apps. The film draws on a symbolic universe inspired by the Christian faith to examine, with humour and a touch of biting wit, our contemporary relationship with love.
The heroine, Nunuche – naïve and sincere – has just been dumped. She then finds herself, against her will, plunged into the chaos of modern dating. Behind the comedy and a deliberately gentle, almost dreamlike aesthetic, the film aims to tackle deeper issues: emotional dependency, conditioning in matters of the heart, and the capitalist logic underpinning dating apps.
It is the director’s way of creating a world that is both alluring and unsettling, where the apparent gentleness gradually gives way to a more biting dimension.
Fostering a collective spirit in Brittany
Beyond the film itself, Inès wants to turn this project into a genuine collective endeavour. The team will comprise 15 to 20 crew members, eight actors and around ten extras, all from different backgrounds but belonging to the same generation.
Several former Cinécréatis students are also directly involved in the project. *L’Homme de ma Vie* is led by Inès Rouiched as director, Maeva Rialland as first assistant director and Inaki Preteseille as production manager, all three graduates of the Cinécréatis Nantes 2022 cohort.
The project also brings together young talent from other schools in Rennes. This cross-disciplinary collaboration is particularly close to Inès’s heart: “I’d like to be part of this and breathe new life into audiovisual creation in Brittany,” she explains, convinced that the region is brimming with talent and potential, both among filmmakers and producers.
Filming will take place at various locations in Rennes, including local bars, the streets of the city centre and a studio at Les Halles en Commun. After filming, the team anticipates around a year of post-production, with the aim of subsequently organising screenings accompanied by film discussions across Brittany.
With *L’Homme de ma Vie*, Inès Rouiched is continuing her journey as a director whilst helping to foster a vibrant community of young audiovisual professionals in Brittany. It is a collective and committed approach that Cinécréatis is proud to see emerging amongst its former students.
