School under lockdown

In the exceptional context created by the Coronavirus epidemic, schools, like many other cultural institutions, have had to deal with an unforeseen and unprecedented situation. CinéCréatis has put in place a series of measures to guarantee educational continuity and to maintain links with all our students.

Use your creativity to respond to this unprecedented situation.

The current epidemic crisis has brought major sections of the global economy to a standstill and is disrupting our societies in many ways, forcing millions of families across the different continents into confinement. Our school’s response to this situation has been based on a series of measures designed to guarantee the continuity of courses, through distance learning using the various possibilities offered by digital technology and networks.

A whole system has been deployed to ensure educational continuity:

  • Weekly monitoring of each of our students by telephone,
  • Regular monitoring of distance learning courses (counting the number of hours). Missing hours, requiring the presence of students on site, will be made up as soon as the deconfinement has been initiated. Attendance and involvement in these courses will form part of the overall assessment.
  • By maintaining examinations to ensure progression to the next year, or the award of a diploma, with all the benevolence required by the situation. While remaining vigilant about what has been learned.
  • The desire to maintain work placements. Adaptations will be possible depending on the health situation in France when the time comes, and on the wishes of companies, of course. However, in exceptional cases, the absence of a work placement will not prevent the diploma from being awarded.

Soon to be decontaminated and then what?

Preparations for the return to our schools have been made to ensure that all employees and students benefit from the best possible conditions of hygiene and compliance with health regulations.

To this end, a substantial number of measures have been taken and will be effective from the 1st day of reinstatement of our schools, including:

  • Marking the ground around and inside the schools to show the physical distance to be respected (1 m),
  • The creation of an organised pathway within the establishments, with the aim of limiting as far as possible crossings and opportunities for contact between people on the site,
  • Taking into account and applying the rules of distance within offices and administrative premises,
  • A reminder of barrier measures and actions through daily posters and verbal communication,
  • Adaptation of on-site teaching schedules:
    • Allowing students to be allocated to different rooms in which the principles of distancing will also be applied (marking of work areas with a minimum distance of 1 m between workstations, no more than 15 people per room),
    • Favouring staggered arrival and departure times, to minimise meetings in the corridors or common areas. The same applies to breaks between lessons, which will be adapted accordingly.
  • On the day classes resume, the provision of alternative masks made of type I fabric (suitable for use in public), as well as a visor. Everyone must keep and maintain this equipment (including regular washing of the masks and cleaning of the visors) in order to preserve its effectiveness throughout the lessons. This equipment should be kept for possible re-use at the start of the next school year.
  • Daily temperature checks using non-contact thermometers. Any case of abnormally high temperature will be reported to the person concerned, who will be sent home immediately and advised to contact a doctor.

In addition to the daily maintenance carried out in our schools, which will of course continue, a specific disinfection protocol has been put in place. This includes :

    • Dispensers equipped with hydro-alcoholic solutions and soap are freely available in our buildings,
    • Cleaning of sanitary facilities and contact points (such as handrails, door handles, light switches) every 2 hours by dedicated staff, with a record of the shifts carried out,
    • Disinfection by fogging, at least twice a day, of classrooms, offices and common areas by disinfection professionals.

With all these measures, we naturally intend to comply with the recommendations currently issued by the public authorities, but we also want to go even further, aware of the complex and anxiety-provoking nature of the unprecedented situation we are experiencing.

Finally, a few examples of our students’ creativity during periods of confinement.

Fake Sound Challenge

An exercise carried out by the 1st year Cinécréatis Nantes students in direct relation to confinement. This is the “Fake Sound” challenge. The aim is to film an image or video and at the same time create sound effects to fool the viewer.

“My confined setup

This is an incentive to share images of our students’ confined workspaces.

Finally, at the time of writing, a rather special video is being prepared! We have gathered testimonials from our administrative team, some of our teachers and our students, with the aim of sharing with everyone how we have lived through this ordeal.
