14 August at the Théâtre de la Mer in Sète
For the second year running, CinéCréatis is proud to partner with the F.E.A.T Festival, a must-see cultural event that celebrates the links between cinema, audiovisual media, hip-hop music and urban arts. This partnership is fully in line with the school’s values: supporting the talents of tomorrow, facilitating connections with industry professionals and encouraging new forms of audiovisual creation.
A festival dedicated to new forms of audiovisual storytelling
Held in Sète, the F.E.A.T Festival is a one-of-a-kind event. It showcases the richness of contemporary audiovisual creations through an eclectic programme combining short and feature-length films, TV series, music videos, preview screenings, meetings with directors, actors, musicians and artists, film literacy workshops, live performances and street art events.
At the heart of the festival lies a bold ambition: to showcase how hip-hop and urban cultures are influencing cinema, filmmaking, music videos and, more broadly, new forms of audiovisual storytelling today.
Deeply rooted in its local area, the festival also promotes Occitanie as a hub for creativity and film production, whilst showcasing the region’s emerging talent, independent productions and exchanges between professionals and young creators.
An event dedicated to passing on knowledge
The F.E.A.T Festival stands out for its commitment to discovering new talent, fostering dialogue between artistic disciplines and making the arts accessible to all audiences.
Each edition also spotlights a particular artist. For this third edition, the festival is celebrating Abd Al Malik, a rapper, writer, director and leading figure on the French cultural scene. An exceptional evening will be dedicated to him, exploring his audiovisual world where cinema engages with urban cultures.
Through this programme, the festival reaffirms, more than ever, its commitment to making Occitanie a leading centre for new forms of audiovisual expression inspired by hip-hop and urban cultures.
CinéCréatis Montpellier students at the heart of the project
This partnership is also being brought to life on the ground thanks to the involvement of students and interns from CinéCréatis Montpellier.
During the summer work placement organised in early July, participants had the opportunity to collaborate with the F.E.A.T Festival on an audiovisual project dedicated to Salamech, an artist and graffiti artist from Montpellier.
Supported as part of this partnership, they helped produce a film documenting the artist’s creative process, from the conception to the completion of his new work. This immersive experience enabled them to develop their technical skills whilst gaining an insight into the demands of a real-world production project.
A meaningful partnership
By renewing its partnership with the F.E.A.T Festival, CinéCréatis reaffirms its commitment to cultural stakeholders who are driving change in audiovisual practices and offering future professionals practical, educational and inspiring experiences.
Beyond the opportunity to discover a festival renowned for its originality, this collaboration enables students to immerse themselves in a stimulating creative environment, meet artists and industry professionals, and play an active part in projects that bring together cinema, music and urban arts.
See you on 14 August!
The F.E.A.T Festival invites the public to join us on 14 August for a new edition dedicated to creativity, sharing and innovation in the audiovisual arts. With screenings, talks, performances and workshops, this third edition promises to bring together cinema, music and urban arts in a rich and inspiring programme.
