30 years of cinema in Nantes
For three decades, the UGC Atlantis has been an integral part of everyday cultural life in Nantes. A place for discovery, socialising and sharing a love of the silver screen, the cinema caters to audiences’ film preferences and helps to keep the local film culture alive.
To celebrate these 30 years, UGC Atlantis is hosting a week-long event from 30 September to 6 October, dedicated to cinema, its diversity and the people who bring it to life.
And because a film is about more than just what you see on screen, Cinécréatis invites you to discover everything that goes on behind the scenes of its creation.
From script to screen: take a look behind the scenes of a short film
During this anniversary week, Cinécréatis is presenting an exhibition dedicated to the various stages involved in making a short film.
How does an idea become a screenplay? How do you prepare for a shoot? What roles are there on set? And what happens once filming is complete?
The exhibition allows visitors to follow a film’s journey before, during and after filming, and to gain a better understanding of the many stages involved in turning an idea into a cinematic work.
To bring this journey to life, the exhibition draws on ‘L’Annonce’, a short film made by students at Cinécréatis Nantes as part of their end-of-year project. (Class of 2024.)
It offers a chance to gain an up-close insight into the students’ work and the wide range of skills required to make a film.
Cinécréatis, Pivaut and ESMA come together for the occasion
This anniversary week will also be an opportunity to showcase the creative courses offered by the Écoles Créatives network.
Alongside Cinécréatis, Pivaut and ESMA will also be present at the UGC Atlantis. Three schools, three worlds and a wealth of creative careers to discover, showcasing the full range of pathways that bring artistic and cinematic projects to life.
A week to celebrate 30 years of cinema, but also to take a fresh look at what goes on behind the screen.
