Second year: an increasingly significant professional practice

The second year of the Audiovisual Director-Creator program (level II RNCP title) offered at CinéCréatis aims at introducing students to cinema and its professions in greater depth, as well as, of course, helping them acquire the technical and artistic skills necessary to develop their future professional project. This second year of study is designed to provide students with a complete immersion in the world of cinema: following on from the first year of study, this new stage will enable students to strengthen their knowledge, refine their practice, and become more independent.

1st year
Relying on a general, technical and professional education, CinéCréatis immerses students in the film industry from the very first year!


2nd year
With technique and professional practice at the heart of its training, CinéCréatis intends the second year as a complete immersion in the world of cinema.

3rd year
The third year is a real opportunity to deepen your knowledge of advanced technologies and validate your professional project. It is an excellent way to access the whole film industry, and is the last step in the acquisition of the “Audiovisual Director-Creator” degree (RNCP level II) .

Training programme

At CinéCréatis, the second year of the audiovisual training is a very decisive stage: after completing the first year of the training, the students are now passing a milestone. During this new year, they will pursue their immersion in the reality of the professional film industry and deepen the knowledge acquired in the first year. The goal is to bring them to a thorough knowledge of the various tools, techniques and professional practices necessary in the process of developing a real professional project. Indeed, it is in the middle of this 2nd year that the students will have to choose their major, and consider very concretely their professional career development.

Also, this year focuses on the practice of professional formats: in addition to the technical and general courses it provides, students will get a real insight into the professional realities of project development, filming, and post-production (video and sound editing).

These new skills will also be acquired through an internship in a company: over a period of 6 to 8 weeks, the students will join professional organizations, and make their debut in direction, management, production, or as video or camera assistants. The educational teams of CinéCréatis will help them make this choice, so that it matches the students’ interests.

This is therefore a decisive year, highlighted by the choice of a specialization: thanks to enhanced professional practice, the student is now able to specify his / her professional project, and to envision his / her integration into the job market. Whether they choose to specialize in Image, Production or Post-production, they will be able to dedicate themselves in the 3rd year to their chosen field and refine their artistic and technical skills.

Educational purpose

The 2nd year of the audiovisual training offered by CinéCréatis is a great professional springboard. Following on from the 1st year, it completes the students’ training in the various techniques, practices and professions of cinema, while giving them the opportunity to apply these new skills to the creation of audiovisual projects.

At the end of this year, the students perfectly master the technical aspects, and have been able to test their skills. The tutorials allow students to visualize themselves in real work situations, but also to conceive teamwork, an audiovisual production being the fruit of a common work, and the collaboration of several departments.

The 6 to 8-week internship planned as part of this second year of training at CinéCréatis also meets the purpose of developing a practical approach to the reality of the film industry, to its processes and to the role that students will be able to assume in it. This internship within a company is also an opportunity to build relationships, develop a network and prepare for professional integration.

CinéCréatis’ commitment to prepare students for their integration into the professional world is finally demonstrated through conferences and masterclasses on specific themes, which complement the training program.

In practice

At CinéCréatis, the 2nd year of the Audiovisual Director-Creator program (level 6 RNCP title) is accessible after the 1st year of the program. Students who wish to join the program must hold a Baccalauréat, and undergo a selection process carried by the educational department, which includes a study of their academic record followed by a motivational interview.

As in the first year, this second year of the cinema training course runs from September to June, and includes no less than 30 hours of classes. It leads to the third year of study, which will be the opportunity for the student to specialize in the field of Production, Image or Post-production.

Teaching subjects

In the perspective of deepening and developing the knowledge acquired in the first year, the second year of study in cinema offered at CinéCréatis is also organized around 3 main subjects: general courses, technical and professional courses, and finally, tutorials.


The student will pursue the acquisition of a multifaceted general and cinematographic culture. Once again this year, the emphasis is placed on the development of a critical outlook, giving the student a sharp and analytical eye on cinematographic works, and allowing him / her to put into perspective the different trends that have influenced the history of cinema. He / she is also introduced to scriptwriting.

The technical and professional teaching of the 2nd year is a logical extension of the 1st year. Intensive practice on professional equipment, allowing the student to deepen his mastery, is a priority. Thus, in addition to pursuing their learning on aspects involved in audiovisual productions already covered in their first year, machinery and post-production (editing, special effects, etc.) become more important and are part of a complete knowledge of the film industry.

Here again, the tutorials are an opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired in the technical and professional courses. It is in fact during these tutorials that the students will truly assimilate the professional skills studied in class, understand them concretely and refine them. While the first year’s projects focused particularly on videos, sound and photographic illustrations, the second year sees the students’ field of action widen, with the production of documentary films, short films and free subjects.
