Synopsis

End of the 90s.
From rentals to advice, Paul lives in the routine of his video store, alone but very involved. One night, while closing his store, a mysterious woman asks him to identify the contents of a shocking untitled video tape…

About the film

High Definition is a psychological thriller directed by Baptiste Turbé, about 15 minutes long, whose main theme raises the following question : Is the past indelible?

The short film brought together over 30 students in their 3rd year of studies in cinema. The project required 3 months of pre-production, 8 days of shooting and 2 months of post-production in order to create a high-quality film.

Following what director M.Knight Shyamalan said in his films Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000) and Sign (2002), the thread tells the story of a man who has forgotten who he was.

The short film is set in the world of VHS, the historical star of video.

Casting

Valérie Pastre (alias Adèle)

Actress and voice-over, it is at 23 years old that Valérie leaves her business studies to head back to her passions, theater and image. Afterwards, she did internships at Cours Florent and took classes at the Pygmalion studio.

She then followed training courses with the American coach Jack Waltzer. It is from this moment on that she will start acting in short films and lend her voice to different projects.

Nicolas de Boisse (alias Paul)

Born in Lyon, he grew up there until he was twenty years old. After a classic engineering career, he left his city to work in development all over the world, moving from one destination to another.

However, every day he has the same question that comes back on his way to work: “what would really make me want to go to work this morning?”.

It in in Bangkok in 2012 that he realizes what drives him, what he really likes to do: acting!

Back in Lyon he joined a theater school. There he learns the acting profession for 18 months. He left school last January and has been participating for two years now in volunteer short films, always with the ambition to make his passion a profession that will make him happy.
